Camila Cabello gave an impassioned speech at the 2018 Grammy Awards.“I’m here on this stage tonight because, just like the DREAMers, my parents brought me to this country with nothing in their pockets but hope,” Cabello said passionately on stage. “They showed me what it means to work twice as hard and never give up. And honestly, no part of my journey is any different from theirs.” It was an inspiration for everyone at the awards—except, maybe, for Blue Ivy Carter.
Camila Cabello Opens Up About Blue Ivy at the Grammys
When the camera panned out to the crowd, a young Blue Ivy was caught firmly telling her parents, Beyoncé and Jay Z, to stop clapping. You can see the clip of the six- year- old telling her parents what’s what below.
Now, Camila is opening up about the moment that became viral on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show. Host Nick Grimshaw asked her about the moment. Camila admitted that she wasn’t entirely self-assured at that moment. Check out her reaction below.
“I had a moment of insecurity. I surprised myself… Do you think she didn’t like my speech?”
Grimshaw answered that he thought Blue Ivy was tired of people interrupting Cabello, so she shushed her parents in the process. “She was like ‘be cool, be cool’.”
I think we can all relate to Camila! It was a moment of insecurity when Camila saw that clip, so it’s valid. She still spoke her truth, and that’s what’s most important. I do agree with Grimshaw. I think young Blue Ivy just wanted to hear the rest of Cabello’s speech!
