One of the biggest films of the summer “Baby Driver,” is already being considered for a sequel even though it hasn’t even been out for a week. Edgar Wright’s heist film set to a crazy good soundtrack, outperformed making $21,000 over the weekend according to Box Office Mojo. Edgar spoke to London glossy Empire about whether or not fans could count on a sequel in the future.
“The studio have asked me to think about writing a sequel, and it’s funny — it is one of the ones that I might do a sequel to because I think there is somewhere more to go with it in terms of the characters, especially Baby [played by Ansel Elgort],” he said on the podcast.
Adding, “[With] most sequels, you have to contrive something so they go back to square one, unless there’s somewhere deeper for them to go. I think with ‘Baby Driver’ there’s more that you can do in that realm, and I sort of have an idea that if you did another one you would subvert his involvement in the crime in a different way so he’s not kind of the apprentice anymore.”
Although we’d love to learn more about Baby’s future, Elgort’s co-star Eiza Gonzalez has a different idea to continue the story.
“I want a Debora and Darling movie, like a ‘Thelma and Louise’ type of film, Gonzalez told the NY Daily News. “Imagine Darling and Debora going on the run together? That would be so cool!”
