In case you missed the recent headlines about Ed Sheeran, just days ago he announced to fans it’s time for him to take a break from social media. In an age where so many of our interactions take place on the web, we all can use a bit of a digital detox from time to time – and Ed Sheeran is no different. According to People Magazine, “The British singer announced his plans to take a break from social media on Sunday in a message posted to his fans on Facebook and other accounts like Twitter and Instagram.”
At 24 years old and in the musical limelight, taking a break from social media at the peak of his career is a bold move and a big decision – props to him for knowing exactly what he needs for both his mind and soul. “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while. I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last five years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so i’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.” (via People)

As much as we all love the web, social media and the unparalleled technological ability we have to connect with one another around the globe, sometimes a little break is just what we need. Putting down the phones, putting our connectivity aside and spending every moment in the moment is just what we need. And, props to Ed for going for it. Whether it’s spending more time with the ones we love or focusing on personal growth, taking a tech break can help clear your mind, relieve stress and give your spirit the chance for some serious self-reflection.
