Late night show host Stephen Colbert kicked off the 69th annual Emmy Awards last night. He opened the show with a monologue that celebrated an heckled some of the night’s biggest stars.

SNL won big time racking up several Emmys. Sketch show comedian Kate McKinnon won for Best Supporting Actress on a Comedy Series beating out her co-stars and friends Leslie Jones and Vanessa Bayer.

The female stars of ‘Big Little Lies’ hit the stage to present an award. Both Laura Dern and Nicole Kidman walked away with awards. The HBO hit won for Outstanding Limited Series. Such a great show.

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss made Emmy history by taking home her 8th Emmy, 6th Emmy for her role on ‘Veep.’ Here’s what she had to say during her acceptance speech. “This is and continues to be the role of a lifetime.” Congrats, Julia!

Lena Waithe of ‘Master of None’ made Emmy history as well when she became the first black woman to win an Emmy for writing a comedy series. “The things that make us differen, those are our superpowers…The world would not be as beautiful as it is without us in it.” I couldn’t agree more.
