New Years Eve is only a couple of days away and there are a lot of people opting to stay home this year. So if you haven’t decided whether or not you want to host a party in your abode, now is the time to do it. I spoke to celebrity event planner Stacey Ruiz who shared a few tips to get you on track to celebrate the New Year in a big way.
We’re only a couple of days away from New Years Eve. Is it too late to put a party together?
“It’s never too late! You’re fabulous and therefore your party will be. Get your thoughts together and start spreading the word to your guests ASAP… then you can take care of the rest after.”
What are the top 3 things we need to do right now?
- Have a plan: Create a theme/ color scheme so you can have your party mapped out and start getting your decor (see ideas below).
- Food/ Beverage: Think about if you want to have your party catered- food and beverage or just food (remember prices may be more than usual during the holidays), or if you are going to go to the store to pick-up some bites. If you are going to have it catered, contact a local caterer ASAP. Think if you want the food to be served buffet style or tray pass (I personally love tray pass).
- Music: Will you have a DJ? If not, create a playlist. *Remember to be aware of any music ordinances you may have around your area, the last thing you want is for the law to come and shut the party down*
Should we run to a party supply store and grab decorations?
“I am all about keeping things classy, simple, and modern. Black, white, and gold is my favorite color combo. Fill the house with beautiful white flowers in gold mercury glass vases and/ or gold geometrical vases.
Place tons of candles all around-from small mercury glass votives to big hurricane candles, the more candles the better. Keep lighting dim and let the candles give a beautiful night glow. Some decor items I love right now are the Mylar letter/number balloons in gold and the 36″ balloons with gorgeous tassel garlands (they come in different color combos). Side note, these balloons make for a great photo op for guests.
Don’t forget to send your guests home with little NYE recovery kits. They will thank you later!”
What should last minute party planners keep in mind?
“Remember at the end of the day, do not stress. If you are surrounded by the people you love and that love you, that is the best way to go into the New Year. So have fun, toast to an awesome New Year, and dance the night away. HAPPY 2016!”
