It’s of no surprise to anyone that the newest trailer featuring Joaquin Phoenix is already garnering praise from fans and critics alike. In the international first look trailer for “You Were Never Really Here,” shows Phoenix in the role of Joe, a brutal and tormented enforcer on a rescue mission. He’s searching for a missing teenage girl named Nina (Ekaterina Samsonov), the daughter of a state senator.

“If she’s there, I’ll get her,” Joe says in the trailer. “McCleary said you were brutal, Senator Albert Votto [Alex Manette] responds. “I can be,” Joe says.
The trailer then goes on to raise the volume on the trippy tune Peter Pan Death Wish by Melkeveien. It’s worth noting that the man behind the music is Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, with whom Joaquin has worked with on “Inherent Vice” and “The Master.”
The film is already has the word “Oscar” being thrown around and it doesn’t even have a release date announced.
