The last time we saw the ladies in Litchfield Prison, Daya (Dascha Polanco) had a gun pointed the head of a guard after a riot breaks out after Poussey (Samira Wiley) was accidentally killed. Of course, that was the big cliffhanger of the season and the mystery that audiences want resolved ASAP. In the first teaser released by Netflix, you can clearly hear at the end of the 1:16 clip that a gun does go off. But thanks to editing, we can’t even be sure if that gunshot is part of that scene at all.
Could Daya have shot up at the ceiling or wall just to get everyone to calm down? No matter what the outcome, she is going to have to be punished for putting that guard in a position where he thought he could lose his life. Quite possibly, the shot could’ve been aimed at Daya by someone trying to stop her like evil Piscatella (Brad William Henke) or even Linda (Beth Dover) who was in the bathroom when all of this went down. The one thing you can expect for sure is major drama.
One funny moment from the clip shows Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex (Laura Prepon) who were minding their own business and discussing how they plan to stay out of trouble. When all of a sudden, they see the riot and Piper can’t seem to walk away! Alex knows that if they stay there, they will get caught up in that mess and the last thing anyone in jail needs is more problems.
There’s only one way to find out what happens, head over to Netflix on June 9th to see the secrets that season 5 has to offer. After the death of Poussey, I really have no doubt that these monsters will not hesitate to put a bullet in any one of these inmates. Hopefully this season will be even better than last, and it was pretty awesome!
