It’s not even October but you can look forward to getting a good fright this summer. Stephen King’s short story “The Mist” has been reimagined for a new series on Spike TV set to premiere on June 22 at 10 p.m. and the trailer has already managed to scare me half to death!
The series tells the story of the Copeland family, who has been torn apart by a brutal crime. As the small town group tries to deal with the fallout, a mist appears and starts to take over.
As the trailer begins, you can see the fear in the eyes of a soldier who declares there’s something in the mist. He barrels through two police officers as he demands a gun only to meet with resistance. As he gets locked up in a jail says he says ominously, “It’s coming.”
Hold on to your popcorn, because it gets even more intense as you see this dark cloud take over the town while the townspeople confusingly seek refuge. Family, friends and even enemies will come together to battle this unknown mist and whatever evil it brings with it.
“We didn’t want it to be a monster show, we wanted it to be a show about fear and how people react when they are afraid,” series creator and executive producer Christian Torpe told Entertainment Weekly about his adaptation. “In order to do that, we obviously need to scare the characters once in awhile…”
The series stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isaiah Washington, Jr. and Frances Conroy.
