I love watching movies, which is why my Netflix account is such a problem. I’m always on it watching some film or another instead of focusing on all the work that needs to be done. One of my favorite movies to watch is a good foreign film. It’s interesting to watch all sorts of different cultures via film. Watching foreign films is fascinating. They immerse you into different cultures and a different way of filmmaking. Because of all the streaming services out there, it’s so much easier to get access to foreign films than ever before. So, here are some of my favorites that you can watch right now.
Living Is Easy With Eyes Closed- This Spanish film is set in the 1960s. It’s about an English teacher who happens to be a huge Beatles fan when John Lennon comes to Almeria to shoot the film, How I Won The War. The teacher decides to go on a road trip to meet the famed Beatle and along the way he meets two young hitchhikers. Together they explore their dreams and their own ideas of freedom. If this description doesn’t make you want to watch the film, then consider the fact that the Living Is Easy With Eyes Closed won the filmmakers six Goya awards, which is basically the equivalent of six Oscars for an American filmmaker.
Blue Is The Warmest Color- If you like a good film, the consider watching Blue Is The Warmest Color. The acting is incredible and the characters are unforgettable. It’s a French coming of age story and definitely something all its own. It’s streaming on Netflix right now and has a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so you know it’s a big deal.
Intouchables- This French movie is sweet, uplifting and will leave you feeling good. It’s based on a true story of friendship and is about a French millionaire who hires a street smart ex-con for a caretaker. The two form an unlikely friendship that will make you laugh and cry. Watch it for the fact that it will leave you feeling like there’s still hope in this crazy world.
