I really couldn’t believe this news when I read it: Lady Gaga’s longstanding reign as the most followed person on Twitter has been overtaken by Justin Bieber! It’s wild! Bieber’s recent jump to 33,532,794 followers has left Gaga in the dust with 33,467,398. Can you believe it? It’s been one heck of a run for Lady Gaga holding the title of most followed person on Twitter for nearly three years!

Lady Gaga was actually first to cross the threshold of 10 million Twitter followers and then broke her own records of 20 and 30 million! And, throughout her Twitter reign, she congratulated Justin Bieber for his growing following with tweets like: “So proud of @justinbieber and all the Beliebers! I’m only happy to see your fans growing in size, you all deserve it! Monsters support you!”
Lady Gaga rose to the top of Twitter fame by bearing her soul (and her body) through tweets and photos. She hasn’t held anything back, which definitely contributed to her popularity. People love seeing and following a real person. Justin Bieber has taken a very similar approach by being funny and real.
