La La Land is Going on Tour

Six-time Academy Award winning film La La Land may have lost to Moonlight for best picture, but now you can be transported to Mia and Sebastian’s Los Angeles because the film is going on tour!

Lionsgate announced La La Land In Concert: A Live-to-Film Celebration will kick-off at the Hollywood Bowl on May 26-27 conducted by two-time Oscar winner composer Justin Hurwitz. Although the cast won’t be participating, this experience will be completely different than the time you saw it in theaters.

Hurwitz will lead a 100-piece symphony orchestra, choir and jazz ensemble, along with the film’s original vocal recordings from Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and John Legend. So basically the orchestra will be playing in sync with the movie!

“The process is just beginning,” Hurwitz said in a statement. “We’re figuring out how to handle visually and musically the various music elements in the movie, and it’s a lot of fun brainstorming ideas and solutions. What is exciting is … to be able to really feature the musicians and show exactly what they’re doing.”

Currently, only tickets to the Hollywood show are available via Ticketmaster but sales to many major U.S. cities as well as some internationally are pending announcement. Cities included so far are Atlanta, San Diego, San Antonio, Nashville, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C. Internationally they’ve confirmed United Kingdom, Mexico, Italy, Turkey, Switzerland and Canada.

If it does well, I’d love to see a version of the film go to Broadway! Many films have had success in crossing over like Waitress, Dirty Dancing, The Bodyguard, and so many others.
