Big news the other day when Lady Gaga tweeted photos of herself in her underwear. One of the photos included a caption, “Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15.” I have to admit, I was a bit shocked by the photos, not because it was Gaga in her underwear, but because she seemed so real. It’s wild when you realize that superstars are people too – with struggles and issues they have to deal with.
Lady Gaga Turns Weight Gain into Body Revolution Campaign
Lady Gaga’s underwear photo was in response to a huge media storm for her weight gain of 25 pounds in the last few months. Sprouting out of all the negativity, Lady Gaga has started a new campaign for her foundation, Born this Way. The campaign, “A Body Revolution 2013” asks women to pose confidently for photos and post them on her website. Gaga’s Born this Way foundation supports empowering youth and inspiring bravery, two steps toward dealing with something like an eating disorder.
It’s unfortunate the way the media dissects every detail of female celebrities when it comes to their bodies! I think Lady Gaga’s underwear photos were a brave, bold step to both freeing her own innermost struggles and inspiring women everywhere. What do you think? Let’s discuss.
