There’s only one other time other than fall season in September that makes me excited about television, and that’s in January when the mid-season shows premiere. This year is kicking off in an even bigger way because two of my good friends have shows premiering on NBC. Jennifer Lopez is bringing vibes from her film “Enough” alongside Ray Liotta in “Shades of Blue” and Eva Longoria will have you cracking up in “Telenovela.”

LUCIFER
Premieres January 25th at 9pm on FOX

Where would the devil go if he wanted to retire? To Los Angeles, of course! Lucifer (Tom Ellis) abandons his throne to partake in his favorite things— women and wine. After a beautiful woman is murdered in front of his nightclub, he gets the attention of the LAPD. With all that going on, he also has to deal with an angel trying to drag him back into hell.
BILLIONS
Premieres January 17th at 10pm on SHOWTIME

If your Sunday nights were missing Damian Lewis since his departure from “Homeland,” he’s back! Lewis stars as hedge fund billionaire Bobby Axelrod who will battle against U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) in this drama about power and politics.
The People v. O.J. Simpson: American crime story

Ryan Murphy. I feel like that’s all I need to say so people will watch but let me tell you a little more. The limited series will put you in the jury box of the O.J. Simpson trial. Watch Cuba Gooding Jr take on the lead as the football legend that was acquitted of double homicide. John Travolta, Sarah Paulson and David Schwimmer co-star.
SHADES OF BLUE
Premiered January 7th, at 10pm on NBC

Jennifer stars as Harlee Santos, a single mother and detective in Brooklyn. Lt. Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta) serves as her team leader though he doesn’t always operate by the book. When Harlee gets caught up in an FBI investigation, she has to wear a bug putting her unit at risk of getting caught working in the grey area.
The show co-stars “Sons of Anarchy” alum Drea de Matteo, Dayo Okeniyi, Vincent Laresca, and Santino Fontana.
TELENOVELA
Premiered January 4th at 8:30pm on NBC

In this show within a show, you’ll meet a group of colorful characters led by the Ana Sophia (Eva Longoria). She’s a soap opera actress that recently found out her ex-husband (Jencarlos Canela) has been hired to be her on-screen love interest.
