After more than 5 years on NBC Meredith Vieira steps down as co-anchor of the Today Show earlier this morning. “It’s tough. It’s a hard one,” she said of her decision to leaver her job to spend more time with her husband and children. “I have very mixed emotions. I know it’s right, but it’s hard.”
Becoming emotional, Vieira spoke about the “power of this show to really reach people and it’s such a blessing to have had the ability. I’m so honored to have sat with all of you.”
The video below shows some of Vieira’s most memorable moments, beginning with her announcement on May 9 that she would sign off the air. Meredith has been a staple on our televisions for the past 5 years and she will truly be missed.
Vieira has hosted NBC’s ‘Today’ for the past five years with Matt Lauer, taking over for Katie Couric when she decided to leave the show in 2006.
