If anyone tells you the entertainment industry is just glamour, fancy parties, and buckets of money, they’d be lying. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and passion in order to stand out from the crowd. Singer and actress Sharlene Taulé, spoke to Loren’s World about her constant work hustle, while on the red carpet at the Latin American Music Awards last week.
Sharlene, who was seen earlier this year in the dramatic film, “Boomtown” alongside Josh Duhamel, Laura Dern, and Maria Bello, has spent most of 2015 focusing on her debut album. Balancing her acting and music has proved to be challenging but not impossible.
“Today I’m focused on music but tomorrow, who knows?” she said. “I’ve been working really hard this year, more on the music side of my career. I want to have my album ready and I think it’ll be ready by the end of the year. I have some amazing collabs with Farruko, and some other people I’m not ready to mention yet. It’s all very exciting.”
No matter what passion project she’s supporting on the various red carpets she walks throughout the year, she certainly has fun with the fashion and beauty aspects of it all. She stepped out of her comfort zone during the Latin Billboard Music Awards in a body hugging, light blue dress by Ziad Nakad.
“I fell in love with it because of the color,” she explained. “I seldom wear this shade, so it was fun for me to do something out of the box.”
Sharlene mentioned how difficult it could be to eat healthy as a Latina, but she likes to have fun with different ways of staying in shape. The trick is, not making things tougher by doing exercises you might not enjoy.
“I love to dance. We have that in our blood so let’s use it to our advantage. We have the rhythm so don’t be afraid to use dancing [to get fit]. I eat healthy, no red meat for me. It’s a big no-no for me because of health issues so I think that really helped to boost my metabolism.”
Even though this Dominican beauty is 32-years-old, she is aware that she has a lot of young women that look up to her. Many of them will dream of having a career in the entertainment industry, so she had these words of advice and encouragement to share:
“Work! Work really hard and prepare. This is a hard industry and it’s not all about what you see in the photos or in the music videos. It’s a very hard working industry so you gotta be ready for it. There are no shortcuts. You don’t get to sleep much! But it’s the passion for what you’re doing that will keep you going. Make sure that it’s something that you really love. Then the work will be fun all the way. Hustle girls!”
