Taking a road trip is such a classic way to enjoy summer vacation. There’s nothing like getting in your car and heading out of town for some relaxation. If you’re thinking of hitting the road this season, make sure you’re prepared. Here are some essentials for a fun trip.
Summer Road Trip Essentials
Music Playlist – The soundtrack to your trip is part of what makes the journey so much fun. Make a playlist before you hit the road in case the radio doesn’t play what you’re in the mood for. Roll down the windows and turn up the music as you leave your worries behind.
Map – Smartphones are usually equipped with a map app, but they’re not necessarily the most reliable way of find your way around. Plus, if you drive through an area with a poor signal, you won’t be able to access the map feature. Grab a paper version at a gas station on your way out and feel a little vintage while you’re at it.
Snacks & Beverages – Be sure to pack a little cooler with some ice, water, snacks and juices to get you through areas with no rest stops.
Car Phone Charger – Don’t get caught without a way to communicate. Be sure to pack an extra battery and car charger for the long ride.
Sunscreen – You’re still susceptible to sun damage even if you’re inside a car. Make sure to put on some sunscreen if you’re going to be driving in the sunshine for hours.
Hair Tie & Scarf – If you’re lucky enough to be driving a convertible, you’ll definitely need something to tame that mane. Even if you’re just riding with the windows down (which you really should do) keep your hair out of your face with a simple tie. Add a colorful scarf if you’d like to feel a little like Audrey Hepburn.
Sunglasses – Don’t squint your way through a long road trip. Pack some sunnies for fabulous eye protection.
