My good friend Russell Simmons just released his 2nd book “Super Rich” a guide to having it all. The rap impresario, father of two, founder of Def Jam Records, Phat Farm, Argyle culture among other businesses. Using his knowledge, Simmons became one of America’s shrewdest entrepreneurs., achieving a level of success that most investors only dream about. Russell created a name for himself in the early 80’s by founding Def Jam one of the biggest hip-hop a leading music leading label in the industry. He created a name for rappers we listen to today such as RunDMC, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Ludacris, LL Cool J and Jay Z.
The book Simmons takes us through what he views as his spiritual journey after taking the business world by storm. The book encourages spiritual richness, involves the state of consciousness and how to transform yourself. Russell uses his street smart and business experience to offer a new definition of wealth and share timeless principles for developing an unshakable sense of self that can weather any financial storm. As Simmons says, “Happy can make you money, but money can’t make you happy.” The book advises us on the halting fast-paced world we live in and focus on the things that matter the most. Not matter what your circumstance are you will walk away with a need to adjust your priorities and goals. Money will become a tool to do good, and those that give will get more to do more for the world.
le-span” style=”color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-famiYou may not agree with his personal spiritual journey, or the advise he shares in his book, but the book has a way of halting the fast-paced world we live in, and it will help you to think, and focus on the things that matter the most. No matter what your religious affiliation, I think you will walk away with a need to adjust your priorities and goals. Money will become a tool to do good, and those that give will get more to do more for the world. As this cycle grows, you may find yourself one day among the SUPER RICH.
Simmons–rap impresario and founder of Def Jam Records, Phat Farm, and the Hip-Hop Summit, and with Morrow coauthor of Do You!–explores what it means to be truly rich and fulfilled through two tenets. The twin paths to enlightenment, according to Simmons, are, first, remaining fully conscious and connected to the world, and second, believing that the universe will then reward and flood you with gifts and opportunity–the second precept drawing heavily from the laws of attraction found in such books as The Secret. While these lofty ambitions may seem too fanciful, the steps are sensible and actionable. He encourages readers to re-evaluate what being prosperous means to them and incorporate giving back. Simmons urges readers to move to self-acceptance, live without regrets, and move past worry. With personal stories, he offers insight into his personal striving for peace and prosperity, and offers those willing to put in the effort an opportunity to achieve that same abundance. (Jan.)
