TV News: Networks Announce Cancellations This Season

Supergirl moving to CW

Much like the Red Wedding on “The Game of Thrones”, there was a lot of bloodshed spilled over Hollywood today. ABC, CBS, and FOX cancelled quite a few fan favorites ahead of up-fronts in New York next week. So if you have any favorite shows on either network, stay tuned to find out if they’ve ended up in the graveyard of our memories.

I’m going to start with “Supergirl” because it’s been hanging in the balance for quite some time. Although it won’t continue to be seen on CBS, it wasn’t axed! The series will move to CBS-owned The CW where it will share a network with “Arrow” and “The Flash.” Yeah, it’ll do much better there.

“Containment” was cancelled by The CW and “CSI: Cyber” was cancelled by CBS.

Castle cancelled

There was a lot of drama following the ABC drama, “Castle” the last few weeks. Rumors that lead stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic didn’t get along run rampant on the Internet. But after all was said and done, Castle (Fillion) and Beckett (Katic) will say goodbye after eight seasons together. The network announced the series cancellation earlier today.

ABC also axed “Nashville” after four seasons. Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere will dance into the sunset when the series concludes on May 25th at 10pm. “Glavant,” “The Family,” “The Muppets” and “Marvel’s Agent Carter” were also cancelled. There is currently a growing social media campaign for Netflix to pickup the latter but they haven’t said a peep as of yet.

FOX slaughtered four freshman comedies including “The Grinder,” “Grandfathered,” “Copper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life” and the animated “Bordertown.” The first two show cancellations sadly mean we’re losing major eye candy but we’re sure Rob Lowe and John Stamos will find new gigs soon.

So much more can happen as the week wraps up so stayed tuned for all the latest cancellations!
