Have you seen the trailer for the new Natalie Portman movie, Jackie, set to premier in December? It looks incredible. “The film follows Jacqueline Kennedy in the days when she was First Lady in the White House and her life following the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy, in 1963. It focuses on Theodore H. White’s Life magazine interview with the widow at Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.” (via Wikipedia)
There have been nothing but rave reviews of Natalie Portman’s performance and more importantly her transformation into Jackie. Here’s what Entertainment Weekly had to say, “While Portman’s hair and wardrobe recall the titular first lady’s iconic sense of style, her accent is also spot-on when compared to Kennedy’s real voice. The film itself is structured around Theodore H. White’s LIFE interview with Kennedy, which took place during the aftermath of President John F. Kennedy’s Nov. 22, 1963 assassination.”
I am so excited to see this film, are you? Check out the trailer here:
Jackie, which also stars Billy Crudup, Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, and John Hurt, world-premiered recently at the 2016 Venice Film Festival, where it received positive reviews. Critics touted Portman’s performance as one of the film’s strongest elements, while Larraín’s direction was also heavily praised. (via EW)
The praise has continued after the recent premier of the film at the New York Film Festival: “Natalie Portman may want to clear some space on the mantel for Oscar No. 2. The selective star, who has mostly laid low since winning best actress for Black Swan in 2011, is back in awards contention for her haunting, ethereal portrayal of Jackie Kennedy in Jackie, which made its U.S. premiere at the New York Film Festival.” (via USA Today)
Wow is all I can say. Are you looking forward to seeing this film as much I am?
