It’s a huge month for Netflix releases, but I’m sure that’s no surprise. The most anticipated title for August is Marvel’s The Defenders featuring your favorite Netflix superheroes Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). Ok, well maybe Iron Fist wasn’t one of your favorite titles, but we can only guess that once he teams up with the others to save New York City, everyone’s opinion will change.
What’s Coming to Netflix in August
You can catch these four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together, starting August 18.
If you can’t wait that long for good TV, “Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later” will be available for streaming on August 4. The hilarious new eight-part limited series brings back the original cast, plus an all-star lineup of new cast members including Adam Scott, Amy Poehler, Chris Meloni, Chris Pine, David Hyde Pierce, Elizabeth Banks, Janeane Garofalo, Jason Schwartzman, Joe Lo Truglio, Josh Charles, Ken Marino, Kristen Wiig, Lake Bell, Michael Ian Black, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd, Mark Feuerstein, Marlo Thomas, Jai Courtney, Dax Shepard and Alyssa Milano.
Fans of the British series “The Inbetweeners” are in for quite a treat starting August 11! Two former stars from the ITV series, Joe Thomas and James Buckley, star in this series alongside “Gossip Girl” alum Ed Westwick. The comedy tells the story of a double-glazing showroom in Essex in 1983, led by charismatic salesman Vincent (Westwick) who is smart, handsome and cocksure. He will happily break the rules if it guarantees a sale.
If you haven’t seen “The Inbetweeners,” or either of their big screen films following the high school lads and their naughty adventures, they’re all currently streaming on Netflix.
Kathy Bates leads a new series titled “Disjointed” starting August 25. The series, created by Chuck Lorre and David Javerbaum, follows pot activist Ruth Whitefeather Feldman (Bates) who runs a medical marijuana dispensary while encouraging her loyal patients to chill out and enjoy the high life.
Is anyone else hoping for a crossover between “Disjointed” and “Grace and Frankie?”
If you’re looking for original films, “Naked,” starring Marlon Wayans will show the comedian taking on the roles of Mike Tiddes and Rob Anderson starting August 11. The romantic comedy follows Anderson who is all set to marry the girl of his dreams, but can’t quite get to the altar. Every time he comes close, he finds himself waking up naked in his hotel elevator, forced to relive the beginning of his wedding day over and over again.
