With all the delicious photos of food that I’ve seen throughout 2016 on social media, I’m going to be gifting cookbooks to many friends. There are a lot of great options that were released this year, but how do you pick which are the best? I’m breaking down some of my favorites to make things a bit easier when shopping this holiday season.
The Top 5 Cookbooks to Give to Your Favorite Foodie
#1. Claudia’s Cocina: A Taste of Mexico from the Winner of MasterChef Season 6 by Claudia Sandoval. Claudia Sandoval became the first Latina to win on the reality cooking competition series on Fox, and now you can try all her recipes this holiday season. The book features instructions on how to make many popular Mexican dishes and some you may never have heard of because they were passed down her family.
If you order it via her official website, you can have it signed by Claudia herself.
#2. Cravings: Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat by Chrissy Teigen– Chrissy Teigen is used to posing for covers of magazines but this year, she covered her first-ever cookbook. The best thing about this selection is that the recipes are easy to make and she includes recipes that everyone will love. Many people were pleasantly surprised that a model like Teigen had so many delicious dishes included! Some recipes to try include the Lemony Arugula Spaghettio Cacio e Pepe, Rotochick Chicken Noodle Soup, and King Hawaiian BBQ sliders.
The meals aren’t all that healthy but the holidays are for splurging a bit, right?!
#3. Cooking for Jeffrey by Ina Garten– Ina Garten’s cookbooks are never a miss. But her latest release is extra special because it’s full of recipes she makes for her dear husband of forty-eight years Jeffrey. This very personal release for the Barefoot Contessa featuring beautiful photos from her life with her loving husband, their wedding, and the places they’ve traveled to. As far as the recipes are concerned, you’ll find a variety of new dishes as well as updates to a few of her favorites like Brisket with Onions and Leeks and a vegetable stew called Tsimmes.
#4. Dorie’s Cookies by Dorie Greenspan– Do you have a friend with a sweet tooth? Or maybe you know someone who loves baking? Either way, this book makes a wonderful gift. There are enough recipes in this book, that when counting variations, you could make new batches of cookies all year! With that in mind, imagine how often your grateful friend will bring some samples over for you.
Not only is this selection chock full of delicious cookie recipes, but she also shares some great tips that could only come from such a culinary guru.
#5. Eat Like a Gilmore: The Unofficial Cookbook for Fans of Gilmore Girls by Kristi Carlson– As popular as the Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life has been in 2016, there’s no telling how many people will be receiving this title this Christmas. With this book, anyone can dine like they were at Luke’s Diner, The Dragonfly Inn, Emily’s Friday Night Dinners, and you can even be a part of Rory’s birthday celebration by drinking The Birthday Girl Cocktail which is probably their version of The Rory.
It would be great to make a bunch of these recipes and having a binge-night in with your girlfriends and Netflix. Sookie would be so proud.
