We often keep “things” in our lives due to fear of being without. This can not only be toxic to your mindset, but it can also cause you to miss out on opportunities. Rid your life of unnecessary clutter. This clutter includes but is not limited to things, people and thoughts. Over the past couple of months, I felt “stuck.” I felt like I had a million and one things happening all at once and didn’t know where to begin finding solutions. I couldn’t find anything, I didn’t know who to talk to and confide in; my life was just in complete turmoil.
I then realized that the first step in organizing my life was to clean my surroundings. I needed to prioritize and organize my working space. I felt overwhelmed because I wanted to do SO much but couldn’t figure out what was more important. I had to write and find the best content but couldn’t find a set writing place to focus. Something had to give and it began with me physically re-organizing my space. This past weekend, I accomplished this by getting rid of clothing that I wasn’t wearing, going through all of my notes and papers and trashing what I didn’t need anymore, and re creating a new atmosphere in my room. I read somewhere a long time ago; if you don’t have the things that you want and need, make room for it!

Now that’s the “physical” organization. Another important way to organize your life is to rid it of people that aren’t adding to it. I’ve had to do this several times in the last year. This can be very draining, especially if it involves family members or close friends, but it has to be done. I also have to constantly rid my mind of thoughts that are hindering me from moving to the next level in both my personal and business life. Since I’ve done this major cleaning, I feel great and am confident that I will be more productive and effective as a result. When we organize our lives, it won’t stay organized permanently, it requires continuous cleaning. As our lives change and evolve, so will the things, people and thoughts that we accumulate, so it’s important to do “spring cleaning” year round!
