I Miss and Still Admire My Mentor

After reading Loren’s post “Be a Mentor, Find a Mentor,” I was inspired to express how much I miss and still admire my mentor, my late father. Although he passed away at such an early age, when I was about 17 he definitely left his mark on my life and my ambitions. If it wasn’t for my father I wouldn’t have learned the meaning of family and the importance of working hard for future generations to come.

Watching one person carry the weight of 3 other people on his back every day, never giving up no matter how much easier his life may have been is what I most appreciate. I was blessed enough to have a mentor of multiple dimensions who knew: how to strive to be the best of the best, the meaning of dedication, how a woman should be treated, how to laugh to keep from crying, how to never conform but to be an individual, how to obtain success and keep it, how to not make excuses for yourself, and the list goes on and on.

I have even become inspired by my unfortunate situation. I want to one day help other young adults who may not know how to deal with the loss of a loved one. I hope that sharing my experiences will help others to realize that with prayer and faith, you will get through any and everything.

Be inspired by and feel blessed for the people around you. You may have what you need right in front of you, someone you can take sound advice from, someone who actually knows you and may even believe in you more than you believe in yourself. Take a minute to Find a Mentor so that you can one day Be a Mentor.
