#1. Having no consistency.
If your brand message is a hot mess with no consistency, you will find yourself being unfollowed in large numbers. Similarly, if profile visitors don’t instantly get your brand within a few seconds of landing on your profile, they’re not going to follow you. Choose a strong branding strategy complete with brand tone and brand values, and revolve all of your content around it.
#2. Flooding the algorithm.
If you’re posting more than once or twice a day on Instagram, you could actually be flooding the algorithm and peoples’ feeds – neither of which will work for you. Stick to a posting schedule of once per day during peak hours.
#3. Posting low-quality content.
Blurry images, basic descriptions and ‘samey samey’ posts everyone and their mother are sharing on social media are an absolute no-no. Everything you post needs to flow together to inspire people to engage with you.
#4. Being ‘too salesy.’
Your Instagram feed needs to tell a story. People are conditioned to turn off as soon as their senses detect they are being aggressively sold to, so, aim to create a page that takes customers on a visual journey with a few shoppable posts stirred into the mix.
