Who doesn’t love going to the beach to feel the sand between your toes and dip a toe or few in the ocean? Building the perfect beach bag is critical to make sure you have everything you need for a relaxing day in the sun and surf. Here are my summer 2018 beach bag essentials.
Summer 2018 Beach Bag Essentials
A Stylish Bag
It’s all about the transparent trend this season. Pick a tote made from a material that is more likely to hold up against the ocean elements, like nylon or canvas.
Spray-On Deodorant
A spray-on deodorant is your BFF to quickly freshen up if you discover and decide to pop into a gorgeous beachside setting for lunch or sunset cocktail sipping.
Sport Sunscreen
Sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30 is going to be your best bet for all-day protection. Sports sunscreens are formulated to last longer than the typical sunscreen but will still need to be reapplied every few hours for maximum protection, especially if you are an ocean baby.
Lip Product with SPF
This lipstick by natural brand ILIA comes in a handful of gorgeous shades, but I adore this neutral, dark brown and red color (Darlin’) and think it suits all skin tones. The fact that the formula also includes SPF 15 makes it that much more versatile and ideal for a glamorous day at the beach.
A Chic Hat
I love being in the sun, but I also know how important it is to keep oour skin safe. I always throw a fabulous hat into my beach bag to protect my face. Wide brim straw hats are stealing the beach runway show this summer.
Soft Beach Towel
I prefer to lounge in a chair, but I always have a beach towel with me to dry off after a delicious dip in the ocean.
Healthy Selection of Snacks
You never want to go hungry, and the sun can deplete your energy quickly, so having a few snacks on hand is critical. Choose some with fiber and protein to keep you full longer, which will help you stay away from that delicious (but full of sugar) gelato.
Reusable Water Bottle
S’well makes incredible water bottles. They are eco-friendly and highly functional: they keep cold liquids cold for up to 24 hours and hot liquids hot for up to 12 hours (without condensation). Make sure to choose a water bottle that you can reuse over and over again to help you stay hydrated.
Refreshing Face Mist
Keep your face (and body) cool when you’re not splashing around in the ocean with a few generous spritzes of a revitalizing and hydrating face mist.
A Splashproof Speaker
Music sets the perfect ambiance for those feel-good beach vibes. The JBL Charge 3 makes a great beach companion with its full-featured waterproof superpowers in addition to the high-capacity battery to charge your devices.
